Ready to chase some big lake chrome? Join Captain Chris on the High Life II for a killer morning of salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. We're talking about a crack-of-dawn start, state-of-the-art gear, and the chance to land some of the Great Lakes' most prized catches. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just looking to wet a line, this half-day trip out of Kenosha is the perfect way to kickstart your day with some serious fishing action.
We'll shove off at 6 AM sharp, so grab your coffee and meet us at the dock. The High Life II is a 32' Wellcraft that's decked out for comfort and catching fish. Twin 700HP engines get us to the hotspots fast, while the AC keeps you cool even on the steamiest summer mornings. You and up to five buddies will have plenty of elbow room to work those rods when the fish start biting. And trust me, with Captain Chris at the helm, they will be biting. He's got eyes like a hawk and knows these waters like the back of his hand. We'll be trolling for Chinook and Coho salmon, using top-notch gear that's all included. No need to fuss with licenses or equipment - we've got you covered. Just bring your game face and maybe a snack to tide you over.
If you're new to Great Lakes salmon fishing, you're in for a treat. We'll be using a technique called trolling, which means we'll drag lines behind the boat as we cruise along. Captain Chris will set up a spread of rods, each rigged with lures designed to mimic the salmon's favorite snacks. We're talking about spoons, plugs, and maybe even some cut bait if that's what's working. The key is to cover different depths and present a buffet of options to those finicky fish. When a rod goes off, it's all hands on deck! We'll take turns reeling in the big ones, and trust me, when you're hooked up with a 20-pound king salmon, you'll know why they call it the "fish of 10,000 casts." Don't worry if you're not an expert - we'll show you the ropes and make sure you're set up for success.

Chinook Salmon, aka King Salmon, are the heavyweight champs of Lake Michigan. These bruisers can tip the scales at over 30 pounds, and they fight like their lives depend on it - because, well, they do. Chinooks are known for their powerful runs and acrobatic leaps. They're most active in the cooler months, but summer can bring some trophy-sized fish close to shore as they prepare for their fall spawning run. Landing a big king is a bucket-list achievement for many anglers, and for good reason. The fight, the size, and the delicious fillets make these fish a true prize.
Coho Salmon might be smaller than their Chinook cousins, but what they lack in size, they make up for in numbers and taste. These silver bullets typically weigh in between 5-10 pounds and are known for their aggressive strikes and fast runs. Cohos are often the first salmon to show up in the spring, making them a popular target for early-season anglers. They're also arguably the best-tasting salmon in the lake, with firm, orange flesh that's perfect for grilling or smoking. Don't let their size fool you - a limit of cohos will give you a serious arm workout and fill your cooler with some of the finest eating fish around.
Look, there's a reason why Captain Chris and the High Life II are booked solid most weekends. This isn't just fishing - it's an experience. You're getting prime time on the water when the fish are most active, top-of-the-line gear, and a skipper who knows how to put you on the fish. Plus, with the boat's amenities, you're not roughing it out there. It's the perfect mix of comfort and action. Whether you're looking to cross "catch a salmon" off your bucket list or you're a seasoned angler chasing that next big king, this trip delivers. And hey, if you end up with more fish than you know what to do with, Captain Chris will even clean them for you. So what are you waiting for? Grab your crew, pick a date, and let's get out there. The salmon are calling, and the High Life II is ready to answer. Book now and get ready for some of the best fishing Lake Michigan has to offer. Trust me, your future self will thank you when you're reeling in that chrome-bright beauty as the sun comes up over Kenosha.

Chinook salmon, also known as kings, are the heavyweights of Lake Michigan. These bruisers typically run 15-30 pounds, with some topping 40. They're usually found in cooler, deeper waters, especially near structure or temperature breaks. Spring and fall are prime times, but summer can be hot too. Kings are prized for their hard-fighting spirit – they'll test your gear and your arms. Their rich, orange-red flesh makes for excellent eating. To boost your chances, try trolling with downriggers to get your lures deep. Cut herring or large spoons in blue and green are local favorites. Just remember, when a king hits, hang on tight and be ready for a battle. These fish don't give up easy, but that's what makes landing one so rewarding.

Coho salmon, or silvers, are the acrobats of Lake Michigan. Typically weighing 5-10 pounds, these fish are known for their spectacular leaps and runs. You'll often find them in the top 30 feet of water, especially near shorelines or around bait schools. Late summer and early fall are prime times as they stage for their spawning run. Coho are a blast to catch – they're aggressive strikers and put on quite a show once hooked. Their meat is prized for its delicate flavor and firm texture. To target coho, try trolling with smaller spoons or plugs in bright colors like orange or chartreuse. A local trick is to vary your trolling speed – a quick burst can often trigger a bite. Keep your drag set light to handle those sudden jumps and runs. Landing a coho is always exciting, and they're perfect for anglers of all skill levels.
